Collagenius

Collagenius is a very high purity combination formulation, the main component of which is a type I collagen hydrolysate (with small amounts of type III collagen). The black box contains two monthly doses and is pear flavoured.
Peptan collagen peptides, produced and patented with superior technology, promise more efficient absorption and bioavailability than the same amount of average collagen formulations. The collagen hydrolysate used in our formulation is backed by clinical studies that give it credibility.
Description
About collagens…
One-third of the proteins in the human body is collagen (nearly 80% of the skin, about 80% of the tendons and ligaments, about 30% of the bones, about 10% of muscle tissue, and about 50% of articular cartilage).
Our body can produce collagen completely up to a certain age (provided the protein intake meets the requirements), but over the years the production of collagen lags behind the needs of the body more and more, and gradually collagens are produced in smaller amounts than required that eventually leads to depletion. Food based proteins (including collagen chains) are broken down by our digestive system into proteins and then amino acids to be utilized. The great advantage of collagen hydrolyzates (which are already enzymatically broken down into smaller building blocks) is that these preparations contain the amino acids ready to build collagen in a concentrated form, and some of the collagen peptides in such high-quality hydrolyzates are able to enter the bloodstream without further enzymatic degradation (these peptides somehow slip through the intestinal blood barrier) to reach target cells, promoting much more efficient collagen synthesis. Clinical studies suggest that increased physical activity may facilitate this process. With this in mind it is recommended to consume collagen hydrolyzates before, during or right after training sessions
In what cases is Collagenius recommended?
- Individuals living an active sports life or for competitive athletes.
- Over 40 years of age even without complaints to boost regeneration.
- In case of smoking.
- While on steroids.
- In case of increased UV exposure.
- In osteoporosis/osteopenia (loss of bone mass).
- In osteoarthritis.
- In certain autoimmune diseases, when the body’s collagen stock is also sacrificed.
- To facilitate the healing process of fractures (after both conservative and surgical treatments).
- After surgery (affecting soft tissues).
- To promote the regeneration from tendon and ligament injuries
- For aesthetic reasons, to tighten the skin and connective tissue.
- To treat hair and nail fragmentation.
Collagen peptides (enzymatically hydrolysed bovine collagen)
They are responsible for the tensile strength of muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones, and for the formation of the proper connective tissue structure.
Glucosamine sulphate
Another component of cartilage of outstanding importance.
Chondroitin sulphate
One of the most important inorganic components of cartilage.
Hialuronic acid
Hyaluronic acid taken orally has a natural anti-inflammatory effect (reduces cytokine levels), increases the hyaluronic acid content of synovial fluid and has been shown to improve skin elasticity and turgor.
Proanthocyanidins (blue grape seed extract)
It is intended to improve the elasticity of the vascular walls and the resistance of cells to free radicals.
Vitamin C
It plays an important role in the formation of properly structured collagen chains, is a powerful antioxidant and has a positive effect on the immune system.
Magnesium
It is essential for the proper functioning of the skeletal and cardiac muscles.
Manganese
It plays a key role in neutralising free radicals and also improves the bioavailability of protein-rich foods.
Copper
It is an essential compound for neutralising free radicals and plays an essential role in the absorption of iron and vitamin C.
Inulin
As natural fibre, it provides a good habitat and nutrition for our gut flora, which is essential for its proper functioning. Inulin is considered to be a very healthy sugar substitute, as it plays an important role in the healthy functioning of the intestinal tract, helps prevent the development of malignant intestinal tumours, aids calcium absorption, contributes to proper metabolic processes, helping weight loss (especially as it also directly reduces the level of the hunger hormone ghrelin). As the intestinal tract is essentially our largest immune organ, its proper functioning contributes greatly to an effective immune system. It has also been shown to have a positive symptomatic effect in stubborn bowel diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn’s disease. Last but not least, with a minimal caloric intake, it has a strong sweetening effect, but it does not represent a carbohydrate load, so it does not cause insulin spikes, and can therefore be consumed safely even by diabetics. During the initial phase of inulin intake, there may be temporary bloating and increased gas production, which in most cases lasts for a short time.
Directions for use
Recommended daily dose is 1 humped dosing spoon of Collagenius (equivalent to 25ml) dissolved in 300ml water, homogenize with a blender or shaker. Alternatively, the hydrolyzate can be dissolved in skimmed milk or vegetable-based milk replacing liquids (e.g. coconut milk, oat milk, etc.).
After surgeries or for competitive athletes, or advanced stages of osteoarthritis with severe pain the recommended dose is 2×1 dosing spoons (2x25ml) a day.
Potential side effects
Contraindications
Collagenius should not be used by individuals who are sensitive to any of the ingredients listed on the container: crustaceans, wheat allergy (gluten-sensitive enteropathy). As the manufacturing line may contain – although in traces – egg, milk, soy, nuts, fish and sulphur dioxide, anyone sensitive to these ingredients should NOT consume Collagenius!
It has no ingredients that would be recognized as incompatible with anticoagulants. However, in case of taking vitamin K antagonist type anticoagulants (e.g. Marfarin, Warfarin, Syncumar ), it is strongly advised to check INR values on weekly basis in the first month.
